“Monte La Guardia” estate can be considered a woodland farm since the “macchia” (a typical term used in Italy to indicate a wood formed by local native species) with its 200 hectares, spreads over 90% of the overall area.
The cutting activity, operated in total respect of the environment rules, is still conducted transporting timber on mule’s back to the gathering point.
The spectacle, for whom that have never seen it, makes you go back in the past.

The wood allows seasonal mushroom picking along with the wild asparagus always plentiful in this area. You will be able to taste it in the dishes served by our restaurant or take it with you in olive oil.
In the attempt to offer the maximum genuineness to our guests, most of the dishes that you will find in our restaurant are prepared with fresh products from our farm. Fruit from our trees is the base of jams and cakes or it can be eaten as it is.

The choice has been taken preferring some particular typical local variety that are not farmed for global distribution. It is clear that  the fruit from our farm cannot be found in a supermarket.
In our garden rare species of plants can be found and they are used for the preparation of dishes served at our restaurant.

We breed vietnamese pigs, a very particular swine breed that is typical for its short size.
The breeding is not intensive and the pigs are free to roam inside the area of the agritourism. It is not uncommon that some can couple with wild boars.

Rabbits are naturally bred with traditional methods. It is easy to understand that our guests will be surrounded by a unique rural atmosphere that is both very original and informal.

Chicken, geese, goats are just some of the animal species that can be found and that’s not it!
However, all our products are led by family work and are easily visible by the guests . Guests that are willing to experience a more intimate contact with the countryside can join the daily activities.

It is important to point out also that dogs such as the “Maremmano wild boar hound” are bred here. Enthusiasts or simply the most curious ones can have further details and information by clicking on the special section from the homepage of this website.
